The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Selaković, has discussed in New York today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, Jerome Walcott.

On this occasion Selaković said that Serbia was interested in the establishment of a positive dynamics in the political dialog of the two countries and that visits of the top and high-level officials would greatly contribute to that.

The Minister expressed hope that Barbados would participate at the gathering in the capital of Serbia on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the First conference of the Non-Allied Movement in Belgrade.

According to words of Minister Selaković, Serbia is committed to the improvement of the economic cooperation with Barbados and he introduced his interlocutor to economic and infrastructural potentials and success of Serbia.

The Serbian Foreign Minister informed the Minister of Barbados on the current situation in K&M and most recent activities of Priština. He stated that Serbia was committed to the dialog and search for a compromised solution while the other side was the one who did not want a constructive conversation and persistently refused what had been agreed by the Brussels Agreement.

Selaković said that within the program “World in Serbia” one scholarship had been offered to Barbados citizens for studying in Serbia, but we were ready to offer more scholarships if there was interest in this.

The interlocutors exchanged information also on the situation caused by coronavirus in both countries and Selaković introduced the Minister to the beginning of the production of Covid-19 vaccine in Serbia.

Further activities of Serbia in the organizations of this region where our country has the status of the observer, such as the Organization of American States, Caribbean community – CARICOM, Association of Caribbean states were also discussed.

The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Serbia in the USA, who covers Barbados on a non-residential basis.
