Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the United States of America attended the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the parish and the celebration of the Church of St. Luke in Potomak near Washington.

The solemn liturgy on the occasion of the church's celebration was held by His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America, and the ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović, Deputy Secretary of State from Maryland, Luis Borunda, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United States, Bojan Vujić and numerous prominent members of the Serbian diaspora from Washington, Maryland and Virginia.

On behalf of the staff of the Embassy in Washington, Deputy Ambassador Andon Sapundzi addressed the audience, conveying the congratulations of Ambassador Marko Đurić, emphasizing the contribution of the parish of the Church of St. Luke to the preservation of the Serbian language, culture and tradition in the United States.

On that occasion, the growth of interest in Serbian language schools within the Diocese of Eastern America, which this year marks 100 years of existence, was especially emphasized.
